GRECO DI TUFO DOCG

The Greco vine, present in Southern Italy even before the foundation of Rome, finds its best expression on the hills of the municipality of Tufo where ancient Solfataria are located. According to the Homeric poems, Nestor was a very strong hero who loved to delight himself with this nectar. On the chalice from which he drank was written: “I am the cup of Nestor from which it is good to drink. Whoever drinks from this cup will immediately desire Aphrodite from the beautiful crown.” Nestor is a wine that expresses the freshness and aromatic intensity of Greco. Ample, sapid, mineral, it mainly enhances aromas of fresh fruit.

Grape variety: 100% Greco.

Production area: Vineyards are located on the hills of S. Paolina, Montefusco and Prata Principato Ultra in the heart of the Greco di Tufo appellation. Altitude: 400 m up to 700 m s.l.m.

Type of soil: Mainly tuffaceous and clayey with volcanic and calcareous tongues.

Vinification: The grapes, harvested by hand, after a selection in the cellar are pressed whole. The must is cold clarified and fermentation is carried out at low temperature, in order to preserve the fruity aromas of the grapes. After fermentation, the wine ages on its fine lees and then in the bottle.

Organoleptic characteristics

Color: Crystalline, intense yellow with yellow straw reflections.

Bouquet: Good aromatic complexity of ripe fruits such as peach, pear and apple that is completed with citrus notes.   

Taste: Rich and quite full-bodied, with perfectly balanced acidity, good savory notes and a long persistence on the palate.

Food pairings: Indicated to accompany dishes of good structure from appetizer to the main course, in addition to recipes based on fish, it can be combined with vegetable soups, pasta and beans, white meats and cheeses not too seasoned. Serve at a temperature of 10-12° C.
