TERRA DEL VARO

IRPINIA AGLIANICO DOC

Terra del Varo bears the name of the vineyard lands located around the winery, in the locality of Santa Vara. It is the result of the vinification of Aglianico and Merlot grapes. Versatile, fresh and fragrant wine.

Grape varieties:  85% Aglianico, 15% Merlot.

Production area: Owned vineyards located in the hilly area of the municipalities of Luogosano, S. Angelo all’Esca and Taurasi, at 350 m above sea level.

Type of soil: Calcareous clay soil with the presence of volcanic elements. 

Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and selected first in the vineyard and then in the cellar. After destemming, there is a pre-fermentative cold maceration and a controlled tempered alcoholic fermentation with maceration on the skins for about 1 day. Aging for 24 months in cement tanks and at least 6 months in bottle.

Organoleptic characteristics

Color: Intense ruby red. 

Bouquet: Aromas reminiscent of black cherry and blackberries with balsamic notes of eucalyptus and mint, all on a pleasant background of hints of black pepper. 

Taste: Soft, with elegant tannins, sapid and persistent with an aftertaste that recalls berries, black cherry and aromatic herbs.  

Food pairings: It goes particularly well with appetizers of meats and cheeses, pasta with sauces, roasted meat, dishes and pizzas made with sauces and tasty condiments. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C.
