Open Cellars in Harvest in Tenuta Cavalier Pepe From 22 August to 25 October 2020 Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia is an event promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino. From 22 August the Cavalier Pepe Estate offers a special winetour in the most suggestive period of the year to visit the vineyards, taste the grapes with the specialized staff, participate together in the harvesting and pressing of the grapes, follow a technical tasting in the company and lunch at the restaurant of the estate.
IN THE VINEYARD
The tour begins in the vineyard, where the explanation of the phenological phases of the vine cycle and the manual harvest will take place.
Milena Pepe will tell us about her territory: Irpinia, an area that has always been dedicated to viticulture, will explain the importance of what is called “Terroir” and how the varieties: Aglianico, Fiano and Greco, have come down to the present day, in this area, constituting the production base of the three great Irpinia DOCGs: Taurasi, the prince of southern red wines, Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo, two white wines with an unmistakable texture.
Dressing and departure where you can watch and / or participate in the harvest with the explanation of all the phases of the vine cycle and the tasting of the grapes with the owner Milena Pepe and / or the technical staff of the company walk through the vineyards and ancient olive groves where there will be an explanation of the phenological phases of the vine and of our territory.
Pressing with the feet in wooden vats as was done in ancient times.
Toast in the vineyard with our Oro Spumante and our Vela Vento Vulcano rosé wine accompanied by typical Irpinia rustics. There are menus for children and for special dietary needs.
IN THE CELLAR
The visit continues with the owner Milena Pepe and / or the company’s technical staff with an illustrative path of the processing and winemaking and tasting of the fermenting must. The winery is characterized by a modern conception structure: theater of advanced technologies that accompany the conferred grapes, from reception to vinification, from aging in the huge barrel cellar.
